Sports Premium

Updated Sports Premium Objectives
On 26 January 2015, the Department for Education announced the revised vision and objective for the PE and Sport Premium. It is pleasing to see that the DfE and other government departments have seen fit to slim down the expected outcomes and take notice of the advice presented by key partners such as the Youth Sport Trust. Please use the revised vision, objective and key indicators to ensure that your funding and action plans support successful outcomes for all the pupils in your school and lead to a high quality and self-sustainable model for the future.

Primary PE and Sports Premium - Revised Vision and Objectives

Vision
All pupils leaving primary school - physically literate and with the knowledge, skills and motivation necessary to equip them for a healthy lifestyle and lifelong participation in physical activity and sport.

Objective
To achieve self-sustaining improvement in the quality of PE and sport in primary schools.

We would expect indicators of such improvement to include:
  • the engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity – kick-starting healthy active lifestyles
  • the profile of PE and sport being raised across the school as a tool for whole school improvement
  • increased confidence, knowledge and skills of all staff in teaching PE and sport
  • broader experience of a range of sports and activities offered to all pupils
  • increased participation in competitive sport

On the 5th February 2019, the DfE revised its guidance again for the PE and Sport Premium spend (Available to view on this page).

It is pleasing to see that the DfE and other government departments have seen fit to slim down the expected outcomes and take notice of the advice presented by key partners such as the Youth Sport Trust. Please refer to our proposed spend for 2-18/19 using AfPE’s SP Spend reporting document.
